Tongass Mist Writing Retreat

Jelly fungus is a real thing-

glowing yellow cones that grow off dead branches.

They look delicious and like gems for crowns that might sit on the heads of  Sitka black-tailed deer.

Dear Writers,

This retreat is the very first Tongass Mist Writing Retreat! Robert Vivian will be here to facilitate generative writing sessions daily for the entire group. His love of wild things and writing as play will create vibrant space for writers. I cannot wait!

The retreat is located on the Sitka Fine Arts Campus (SFAC) which is home to many wonderful art collaborations in Sitka.  This retreat is about writing, enjoying community with other writers, and experiencing Sitka as honestly as possible in just a few days. Cost of the retreat includes group writing sessions, group readings, lodging, continental breakfasts, lunches and transportation to suggested locations for supper. There will also be daily transportation to various local parks and trails so we can sink into place and the edges of Sitka's accessible wilderness.

Sitka is located in the Tongass - the largest forest in North America spanning from British Columbia and throughout Southeast Alaska. You don't need to come to this writing retreat to experience the Tongass of course, but I hope every writer in this retreat finds the Tongass following them into their writing. Sitka is a vibrant intersection of wilderness, history, culture, art and all in the comforts of an incredible little island city.

Registration is completed by e-mailing me at tongassmistwritingretreat@gmail.com and requesting a registration form. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions and-

I hope to see you soon!

Ruth
